    It really doesn't matter what words we speak, slang or not, its all about how they're used, in what context, and with what intent;

    And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

    If any words we speak, slang or not, fall under the above, its wrong. If you can use your words, any words, in a way that won't fall under the above, your in the clear. With that, I dunno how else to explain it. Also be careful with false doctrine and the traditions and commandments of men outweighing the word of God

    So why bother using socially tabooed words in innocent ways? Even if you're intentions are "in the clear", you may quickly find yourself offending others, and the word of God also tells us to not cause a brother to stumble. So with all these parameters, it seems like there's a very narrow window of oppertunity of appropriateness for using such slang, and when it comes down to that, doesn't it become too much of a hassle to consiously think about when you can and can't use the langauge? It makes logical sense to just not use it. Now, I'm not trying to preach here, because I have a language problem myself. I'm just pointing out some problems I have with this discussion.

    Absolutely right, if it offends someone or can cause them to stumble, being a very questionable word, why use the language at all. Even if it seems alright to us, we must think about what it means to God and others. Is it something edifying and pure in the eyes of God?

    The Bible also says, in Eph. 5:4 ".. neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting but rather giving of thanks."
    "But I say to you for every idle word men may speak, they will give accout of it in the day of judgment." Matt. 12:36

    Hi,

    Ive created a Page not a Post, and even though Ive checked the box that says Allow Comments, there is no box to put a comment in when I view the page.

    Any idea why?

    foul language

    Would it be easy to add an option to "bleep out"
    the foul language? I really dont care, but there
    are some people that I play with, an older couple,
    who dont like foul language. Its the same when they
    play "Gears of War". Oddly enough, they dont have a
    problem with the violence, but they do have a problem
    with the gore.
